Day 25

Happy Australia Day! I celebrated with a barbeque at Pat’s house, complete with lamb, pavlova and lamingtons.  It kind of rocked.  Before the festivities started I tried to get a few pics of Kelly, but she was so excited to see a new face she just wouldn’t stay still.  When she wasn’t headbutting the lens, she was trying to dive into the esky:

I then set my sights on Pat and tried to get a few candid shots.  Didn’t really pan out though, I just caught him unbuttoning his shirt, hahaha.  (Shuddup, it was a very hot day.)

After that he decided to photograph me, to “get even” or something.  Clearly I feel completely at ease in front of a camera.

Day 23

So after our night touring Southbank, I woke up and realised I’d matched my t-shirt to the wallpaper.  Most people wouldn’t notice this, to me this prompted a photo shoot?

img_0875

This is what I look like in the fifteen minutes after waking.

When I got home I found Jazz committing a pretty major crime.  Not only did she have a bone inside the house, she had it on a bed and – wait for it – was trying to bury it in the mattress!  The dogs hate the camera so I pointed it at her as some kind of punishment.  It didn’t work.

I then noticed that the people across the lake still have their outdoor Christmas lights on.   It’s almost Australia Day!

img_0879

Yeah, I need a tripod.  I took this shot and was like, “OMG, accidental bokeh!”

img_0881

On closer inspection it was just accidental fail.

Day 15

I didn’t see anything pretty so I photographed myself.

img_0759_2

It’s not a great shot in the sense it’s not very flattering and I don’t look particularly beautiful, but I guess I liked the ‘warts and all’ quality?  Was feeling very tired and worn out, and I kind of like the look of it.

Day 13

Pat and I took a trip to Uki so he could write a review on the Ecoasis for his paper.  Having driven through Uki and northern NSW before, I was not thrilled at the prospect.

img_0541

As I expected there was a lot of sugar cane.

img_0542

No, really, lots of sugar cane.  So much of it that I became excited when something slightly different, like railroad tracks became visible (that’s what the black object is).

img_0545

I occupied myself by testing the limits of my shutter speed, taking unfocussed and rather boring shots of the sugar cane as we shot down the highway at 110km/h.  Cows, excitement!  Perhaps I should have titled this, “Sugar Cane: A Study.”

Just as dusk fell, we arrived at the Ecoasis.  We were staying in the Morning Mist Chalet.

The resort is located in lush rainforest surrounds, with stunning views of Mt. Warning.

Our two-storey chalet was simply stunning.

Yes, we had this all to ourselves!

The world’s comfiest couch.

The kitchen!

The kitchen was seriously well-stocked.

Check out the brekky hamper:

We headed downstairs and found the most amazing bathroom ever.

In addition to boasting Dorf fixtures and an epic bath tub, it was stocked with MOR bath and body products (making for the bubbliest bubble bath I’ve ever had) and Aveda haircare.

img_0644

The bedroom reminded me of a castle.  The bed itself was so comfy and I had a really good sleep (exciting, I know).

Instead of a mint on the pillow, we got a cute little watermelon soap.

img_0633

Perhaps the piece de resistance for me was the coccoon swing chair – I don’t know why but I’ve always been obsessed with them?

img_0611

It was a great way to enjoy the views of Mt. Warning.

Fun with lens flare!

img_0619

I really wish we’d gotten to stay longer than a night.  The resort has a pool and nature walks and yeah… Much fun to be had.  Although I did feel amazingly refreshed after the short stay, it was as though I’d had a complete holiday.  It was great.

Day 8

Yesterday I hit up the Body Shop with my friend Anisa, where she had some amazing eye makeup done.  It was the most amazing turqoise ever, like a mermaid or something.  So naturally I was then convinced to have my makeup done, which at first I was pretty hesitant about but then I was like, “Well, she looks great, might as well try something new!”

img_0347

img_0357

Meh, I was really disappointed with the outcome.  The cat’s eye things made me feel like Dame Edna Everage, and I felt like the eyeliner wasn’t really close enough to the lash line so it all kind of looked weird.  Looking back on the photos it doesn’t seem too bad, but at the time it really seemed to suck.

img_03481

I think I was just hoping for something really awesome and crazy like Anisa’s, and all I got was some stinky burgundy eye shadow with a bit of eyeliner.  Bummer!  But I went out to dinner and did something that was still pretty basic, but I like it a lot more.

I can’t believe how dark my hair looks when I straighten it.

img_0396

And I got to wear my favourite earrings, so that was a plus!
